Canucks blow third period lead, lose sixth straight 3-2 to Nashville

The Vancouver Canucks’ disappointing second half of the 2015/2016 season continues.

Craig Smith scored the winning shootout goal in overtime for the Nashville Predators, who came back from a 2-0 third period deficit to defeat Vancouver 3-2 in overtime.

For Nashville, the come from behind victory solidified their hold on the first wild card spot in the Western Conference.

But for Vancouver, the loss was their sixth straight, and the one point keeps them behind the Columbus Blue Jackets, Winnipeg Jets and Calgary Flames for third-worst record in the league.

Vancouver ended its 236-minute goalless streak in the first period on a Bo Horvat goal, his 12th of the season.

They extended the lead later in the period on Daniel Sedin’s 27th goal of the season – and 966th point of his career, passing Maurice ‘Rocket’ Richard for 88th all-time.

But Nashville tied the game in the third period on goals by James Neal and Filip Forsberg.

Pekka Rinne made 23 saves for Nashville, who are now 38-23-13 on the season. Ryan Miller made 30 saves for Vancouver, who are 27-33-13 on the year.
