WINNIPEG — Another Winnipeg Jets player needs surgery and is done for the rest of the season.

Jets head coach Paul Maurice revealed Thursday morning Myers has already undergone knee surgery and will also need hip surgery down the road.

“Tyler Myers is in need of two surgeries.” Maurice said after Thursday’s game day skate. “The more significant one is a hip. That is going to take somewhere, if all goes well, between 16 and 20 weeks of recovery.”

The original plan was to hold off on the hip surgery until after the end of the season, but now that he also needs knee surgery, it needed to be taken care of now if he wanted to be ready in time for the start of training camp in the fall.

“He can’t have the knee surgery after the hip surgery cause he needs his knee to rehab the hip.” said Maurice.

“If we waited til the end of the season, did the knee, it would push the hip closer to May which now gets into October. It gets into the regular season before he’s back on the ice playing.”

The hope is Myers will be cleared to go my mid-August. He’s been dealing with hip problems for years according to Maurice.

Myers, Toby Enstrom and Anthony Peluso are all out for the remainder of the season.

Mark Stuart will return to the lineup on Thursday night after missing close to six weeks with a broken hand.
