Osama bin Laden feared an Iranian dentist had implanted a tracking chip in his wife’s tooth, according to newly released documents by U.S. intelligence agencies.
“I was told that you went to a dentist in Iran, and you were concerned about a filling she put in for you,” bin Laden wrote in a letter to his wife in Jan. 2011. “Please let me know in detail about anything that bothers you about any hospital in Iran or any suspicions that any of the brothers may have about chips planted in any way.”
The letter was among 113 documents declassified and released by the Obama administration Tuesday that Navy SEALs had collected during the raid on the al-Qaida leader’s compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, in May 2011.
In May, an initial release of documents showed bin Laden surrounding himself with books on conspiracy theories, news clippings and other materials.

The latest release offers a window into bin Laden’s mindset in the final years of his life and his growing paranoia as U.S. forces closed in on him.
Writing under the alias Abu Abdallah, he said the dentist could have used a syringe to plant a chip under his wife’s skin.
“The size of the chip is about the length of a grain of wheat and the width of a fine piece of vermicelli,” he wrote. “I need to know the date you had the filling, also about any surgery you had, even if it was only a quick pinch.”

He told his wife to destroy the letter after reading it.
Also included in the documents released Tuesday was bin Laden’s handwritten will, where he claimed to have $29 million and “on jihad, for the sake of Allah.”
“If I am to be killed,” he wrote in a 2008 letter to his father, “pray for me a lot and give continuous charities in my name, as I will be in great need for support to reach the permanent home.”
