Saskatchewan election results 2016: Sask. Party wins Kindersley riding

A look at Kindersley, one of the 61 provincial electoral districts in the 2020 Saskatchewan election.

Bill Boyd of the Sask. Party has won the Kindersley riding with 4,744 votes beating out Independent candidate Jason Dearborn who got 1,241 votes.

Summary: Economy Minister Bill Boyd, first elected to the legislature 25 years ago, seeks another term in Kindersley.

Boundaries: Situated on the province’s western border, the electoral district is centred around Kindersley, but stretches as far south as the South Saskatchewan River, as far east as Landis, and as far north as Macklin.

Last Election: Boyd defeated NDP candidate Peter Walker by over 3500 votes, 80-16 per cent—his highest margin of victory in four wins.

History: The riding has been held by the dominant right-wing party since 1978. Bill Boyd was first elected in 1991 and became Progressive Conservative leader in 1994, but helped found the Saskatchewan Party in 1997. He stepped down in 2002, but returned the legislature in 2007.
