TORONTO — A Niagara OPP officer has been taken to hospital after his cruiser was rear-ended on a bridge in St. Catharines on Tuesday.
Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said the officer was assisting a disabled motorist on the Garden City Skyway Bridge , when a car slammed into the back of his cruiser at about noon.
The officer was inside the cruiser at the time of the collision and he was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash and Schmidt said it was not yet known why the collision occurred.
