Just when you thought you’ve seen it all before: an Oregon man who seemed to really want a pet snake was caught on camera shoving a two-foot long python down his pants before leaving a store.
The unknown suspect entered A to Z Pets on Jan. 8 around 2:00 p.m. and was seen on security surveillance heading to the back of the store where the snakes were located. That’s when the man is seen reaching into a tank and pulling out a black pastel ball python worth about $200, according to the store manager.
“I’m just surprised that people are so bold,” store manager Christin Bjugan told KGW News.
Bjugan said the suspect is lucky it wasn’t the python’s feeding day.
“The snakes [get] very hungry. I know when I go back there on a Saturday or Sunday even, the snakes are up against the glass looking for food,” Bjugan said. “So [the suspect] made it in the nick of time.”
The store owner also noted black pastel ball pythons aren’t “aggressive.”
A to Z Pets is a family-owned store that has been in the Portland community for 20 years.
