Saskatchewan men smash store, steal smokes and booze

REGINA – Three Saskatchewan men are facing charges after allegedly stealing a large quantity of cigarettes and liquor from a convenience store.

On Dec. 29, 2015 at 10:14 p.m. Gravelbourg RCMP responded to an alarm at the Lafleche Co-op Gas Bar on Main Street in Lafleche, Sask.

Using a surveillance video, police determined three men used a pickup truck to ram into the building, then took 52 cartons of cigarettes and a significant amount of liquor.

Police posted the surveillance video on Facebook and YouTube, prompting witnesses to come forward. With witness information, two of the three suspects were arrested on Jan. 1.

Some of the stolen cigarettes and alcohol were recovered after RCMP executed three search warrants on the suspects’ residences.

The third man was arrested on Jan. 4.

Sheldon Cox, 35, from Limerick, Sask. is charged with Possession of Break In Tools, Break and Enter, Theft Over $5,000, and Possession of Stolen Property.

Tristen Walters, 18, of Assiniboia, Sask. is charged with Break and Enter, Theft Over $5,000, and Possession of Stolen Property.

Donald Selman, 20, also from Assiniboia, is charged with Break and Enter and Theft Over $5,000.

All three suspects have been granted bail and will appear in Provincial Court in Assiniboia on Feb. 11.
