Family finds packing knife inside 3-year-old’s Christmas present

CALGARY – A Calgary family is demanding answers after parents said they found a knife inside one of their son’s Christmas presents.

Josh Bulpitt said his three-year-old son received the LINCOLN LOGS building set as a gift from his aunt.

The toy made by K’NEX was bought from the Toys “R” Us website.

The little boy had trouble opening the box, so his parents helped.

Inside, they said they found a packing knife within a barrel that contained smaller parts of the toy.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“Right away, we moved it out of reach of the little one here, because he’s quite small and it could have caused him to be hurt pretty badly if he got a hold of it,” said Bulpitt.

“At first I thought it was actually part of the toy,” added Bulpitt’s wife, Rachel. “Thankfully he asked for my help and he couldn’t open it himself.”

Bulpitt said they contacted K’NEX but have not heard back.

Global News contacted Toys “R” Us, who said they were investigating the matter and have requested more information.

Editor’s note: This article has been updated to clarify Bulpitt contacted K’NEX, not Toys “R” Us as previously stated.
