Female victim flown to hospital after crash near Chestermere

STRATHMORE, Alta. – STARS staff were among the emergency officials who responded to a crash on eastbound Highway 1, east of Paradise Road near Chestermere, Alta. Monday.

Just after 12 p.m., crews were called out to a two-vehicle collision involving an SUV and a flatbed tow truck.

A female, believed to be in her 50s, had to be extricated from her SUV. She was taken to hospital by STARS air ambulance; RCMP said Tuesday she suffered serious but “what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.”

The driver of the flatbed tow truck and his female passenger were uninjured, RCMP said. 

The eastbound lanes of Highway 1 between Paradise Road and the off ramp into Chestermere were reopened as of 3:05 p.m. Monday.

Police said the crash remains under investigation, and noted road conditions at the time were very icy.
