SAINT-CONSTANT – The South Shore community of Saint-Constant is reeling after an alleged domestic dispute turned deadly early Sunday morning.
Rousillon police were called to a home on Amaryllis Street in Saint-Constant at 1:00 a.m. after reports of a domestic disturbance between a 17-year-old male and a 50-year-old male relative, with the teen attacking the older man.
When officers arrived at the scene, the teenager was holding a knife and refused to put it down.
According to Melanie Dumaresq, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the teen confronted police.
At least one shot was fired by officers during the tense standoff and hit the youth.

Both the teenager and the 50-year-old were taken to hospital in critical condition.
The teen later died of his injuries, while the 50-year-old remains in critical condition.
Quebec’s public security ministry transferred the investigation to the SQ, as required by law. When a civilian is injured or killed during a police intervention a different police force must investigate the incident.
