Parents react to news of LBPSB school mergers and closures
The Lester B. Pearson School Board (LBPSB) announced the results of its major school change earlier this week and the news means that some schools will disappear.
Six elementary schools will merge and three of them will close.
Suanne Stein Days, who heads the school board, said that the bulk of the changes will come into effect at the end of the school year.
The news of the impending school closures and mergers had parents on the West Island asking a lot of questions.
Senior anchor Jamie Orchard sat down with the head of the LBPSB Central Parents’ Committee, Darren Kotania, to discuss the upcoming changes.
Parents who still have questions are invited to contact their school to learn how to get in touch with their parent representative.

A Year in review: Suburban mayors reflect on 2015
Over the course of the next few weeks on Global Montreal we’ll be bringing you our year end highlights with the mayors of our suburban towns.
Westmount mayor Peter Trent discussed many local issues but he suggests the biggest change for the suburbs this year has been Mayor Denis Coderre and his new attitude towards the agglomeration council.
Most of the mayors on the West Island hope that Trent is right and that there will be deals for the train de l’Ouest and better public transit to the west end, but there have been other high points in the various boroughs and towns where we live.
This week, we touched base with the mayors of Westmount, Pointe-Claire, Dorval and Beaconsfield to hear their highlights of 2015.
