4-year anniversary of roadside shooting near Claresholm

LETHBRIDGE — It’s been four years since a horrific shooting unfolded along Highway II just north of Claresholm.

News of the shooting rattled the community and province.

Family and friends continue to remember the three young people, filled with so much promise, whose lives were cut short in the attack.

Tabitha Stepple, 21, Mitch MacLean, 20, and 22-year-old Tanner Craswell were gunned down near Claresholm on Dec. 15, 2011.

The trio, along with the lone survivor, Shayna Conway, was travelling from Lethbridge to Calgary where the boys were set to fly home to Prince Edward Island for Christmas.

Stepple’s ex-boyfriend, Derek Jensen rammed the group’s car off the highway, then shot each of them before turning the gun on himself.
