Crews with North Shore Rescue assisted in a search for a missing couple who were stuck on Dog Mountain.

Team Leader Mike Danks says the couple, who got lost shortly before 4 p.m., was unprepared for the cold conditions and took shelter under a tree. The woman, a German tourist, was hiking with a man who lives in Coquitlam.

RCMP Air Services were looking for the couple by air, and North Shore Rescue waited for a flare from them before beginning their search.

At around 8 p.m., North Shore Rescue located the couple around 600 metres from a parking lot. They were extremely cold, but otherwise in good condition.

They were walked out to the parking lot shortly after.
