Group of guys in banana suits raise a bunch of money for cancer research in Kelowna

KELOWNA–They’re just a bunch of guys in banana suits who get a kick out of awkward family photos, facial hair, and helping to save lives.

Members of the fundraising group known as “The Family” met in Kelowna Saturday to take their annual photos, and hand over a big cheque to the B.C. Cancer Foundation.

“Family Photos Kelowna started five years ago, just a bunch of buddies sitting around drinking beer,” says the group’s founder Jeff Roberts.  “We kind of wanted to do something unique and raise some money so we decided to do a November based cancer fundraiser.”

“The Family” now has about fifty members from all over western Canada.  They grow mustaches, hold concerts, and do just about anything else they can think of to raise money for the fight against cancer.

At the end of each November they get dressed up and take pictures to commemorate the work they’ve done.
