His name is not considered extraordinary in Vietnam, but for one Vietnamese-Australian man, his name has become a sore spot.
The 23-year-old man’s full name is Phuc Dat Bich (pronounced “Phoop Dat Bick”).
Earlier this year, he posted a photo of his passport on Facebook to prove it was his real name.
He wrote:
“I’ve been accused of using a false and misleading name of which I find very offensive. Is it because I’m Asian?”
He also claims his Facebook account has been shut down multiple times due to his name.
Although the photo was shared in January, it only began to make headlines around the world this week. In July, the popular site The Lad Bible shared his photo but Bic commented that it was no laughing matter.
A search on Facebook shows there are a handful of other users with the same name.
