Calgary teen assaulted over sexual orientation: police

CALGARY – Police are looking for help identifying those responsible for the vicious assault of a teenage boy this summer that investigators believe was motivated by his sexual orientation.

The attack happened in the northwest community of the Hamptons on Friday, Aug. 14.

The victim had been at a house party in the 0 to 100 block of Hampton’s Circle N.W., but left to walk a friend home. It was as he was returning to the party at around 12:30 a.m. that he was approached by a group of four to six males between the ages of 15 and 20 who assaulted him, leaving him lying on the ground unconscious.

The victim eventually regained consciousness and sought help from a resident in the 200 block of Hamptons Terrace N.W.

Paramedics transported the teen to hospital in stable condition.
