Calgary police have laid charges after more than $300,000 worth of vehicles were recovered after they were stolen during test drives.

Police say the sales were arranged through online classified ads where the suspect pretended to be a potential buyer. A meeting would be arranged at a public location to check out the vehicle and the suspect would request a test drive then find a reason to make the seller step out of the vehicle momentarily. Once the person stepped out, the suspect would take off.

In a recent incident, the vehicle owner tried to stop the theft and tried to climb back into the moving vehicle. The vehicle ended up rolling onto its side before the victim could get back inside, pinning him underneath it.

Earlier this month, police executed three search warrants and as a result retrieved a total of nine stolen vehicles and charged four people.

23- year-old Alexandra Beck-Quenneville, 28-year-old Kirk Leslie Naziel , 26-year-old Christina Louise Ramchuk and 22-year-old Lacey Victora Cecile Tiedemann, all of Calgary, are facing multiple charges including property theft.

Included in the recovered vehicles were pickup trucks, SUVs and in one instance, a Bentley luxury car.

Police said they believe that the vehicles were being used for personal use and that they are also connected to several gas thefts in the city around the same time.

Anyone with additional information about the investigation is asked to contact CPS or Crime Stoppers.
