Behind Closed Doors
If you love a good deal and want to support an important cause, you might want to add an event called Behind Closed Doors to your list this weekend.
One of the largest shopping events of the year at St. Vital Centre offers free samples, giveaways, special discounts after mall closing hours.
Tickets for this event are $5 and all proceeds go to Winnipeg charities.
Grownups Read Things They Wrote as Kids
Do you still have any of your childhood or teenage writing? Grownups Read Things They Wrote as Kids is an open-mic evening of book reports, poetry, diary entries and letters from camp.
All you have to do it read out loud to a room full of strangers.
The event is on Sunday at the Park Theatre. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
JimCon Tabletop Games Convention
If you love board games, then this three day event is right up your alley. The tabletop games convention allows you to battle your friends, roll some dice, role play and face magnificent triumph (or painful defeat).
This year there will be more than 500 board games and seven tournaments that attendees can play.
The event kicks off Friday at 5:00 p.m. and runs until Sunday at the Bronx Park Community Centre. Tickets are $25 for the weekend.
Gogol Bordello at the Burton Cummings Theatre
Gypsy punk may seem like an obscure genre of music – but the it may pleasantly surprise you. The music combo makes a frenzy you can’t help but dance to.
It’s part of the band’s Underdog World Strike on a 10th anniversary tour.
The show starts at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Burton Cummings Theatre.
The RWB and the Paul Taylor Dance Company
If you feel like taking in some culture, the world-renowned Paul Taylor Dance Company is in town.
Hailed as the world’s most important living choreographer, Paul Taylor’s choreography is inspired by influential themes in modern society – such as war, spirituality, sexuality, and morality.
The event runs all weekend at the Pantages Playhouse Theatre.
