CALGARY – Hailed as the “primary north-south link” across the west side of the city, Crowchild Trail is the topic of a study entering its third phase, aimed to address traffic issues and accommodate population growth.
The city’s study, which started in Feb. 2015, is looking at short-, medium-, and long-term plans for Crowchild Trail from 24 Avenue N.W. to 17 Avenue S.W. The city said Thursday the project team is now in the “concept identification” stage, hoping to work with residents for their input on possible changes in a series of public workshops.
The workshops will be held Nov. 7, Nov. 9 and Nov. 14, with an additional drop-in session set for Nov. 16. You can RSVP here, or participate in an “online idea forum” starting Nov. 9.
“We know Calgarians have great ideas,” said project manager Fesial Lakha in a release. “The workshops are an opportunity to explore the benefits, impacts, constraints and trade-offs of different ideas participants bring to the table.”
The input gathered in the workshops will be used to develop concepts ahead of the evaluation phase in spring 2016. Study recommendations are scheduled to be brought to city council in early 2017.
