Liberal candidate Jonathan Wilkinson has been elected in the riding of North Vancouver in B.C.

Wilkinson took won 56.6 per cent of the vote, easily beating Tory candidate Andrew Saxton, who finished with 26.9 per cent. Former CBC meteorologist Claire Martin of the Green Party finished third with 8.3 per cent

This riding has been held by Saxton since 2008, however, it was a riding where all four parties felt they had a plausible chance of winning.

In the last election, Saxton defeated Liberal candidate Taleeb Noormohamed by 19 per cent.

Popular former mayor Don Bell won the riding for the Liberals in 2004 and 2006, but otherwise the riding has gone to right-wing parties.

Provincially, this seat has been the stronghold of the Liberal Party, both when it was a centrist party in the 1970s and 1980s and a more right-wing party in present-day.
