SUMMERLAND — Summerland residents are warning their neighbors after a cougar was sighted in the Glenfir School area Sunday night.
Resident Judy Kurulak says she saw a cougar near her home on James Avenue around 10 p.m.
“We see a lot of coyotes; I’ve seen bob cats in the area as well but I’ve never actually seen a cougar,” says Kurulak.
“There are a lot of kids around in this area so I wanted to make sure to let people know.”
She says she was on her deck when she saw the animal and immediately started alerting her neighbors and calling the conservation office.
Other Summerland residents reported seeing a cougar on Cedar Place and Pierre Drive on Sunday night.
