MONTREAL – Liberal Frank Baylis has won in the western-Montreal Pierrefonds-Dollard riding, taking it from NDP incumbent Lysane Blanchette-Lamothe.

Blanchette-Lamothe was looking to win a second term after claiming the seat from the Liberals by a narrow margin in 2011 – just 1,758 votes.
She came in third place.
This riding was held by Liberal MP Bernard Patry from 1993 until the NDP victory in 2011.

In the 2011 federal election, the NDP edged out the Liberals, but the Conservatives weren’t far behind.
Lawyer Valerie Assouline hoped to bring the riding back to the Conservative Party, who last held the seat in 1988 with PC Gerry Weiner.

She came in a very distant second place.

The Bloc Québécois‘ Natalie Laplante, a laboratory technician for the Jean Coutu Group was fourth.
English is the first language of 33.6 per cent (as of the last census), the third highest figure in Quebec, and the 1.3 children per household is also the highest in the province.

The riding includes Pierrefonds-Roxboro and Port-Saint-Raphaël, along with Dollard-des-Ormeaux and L’Île-Bizard–Sainte-Geneviève.
