Officials in Maple Ridge have spent the night investigating a suspected arson.
It happened at a structure near Brown Avenue and 227 Street.
A witness called 9-1-1 just before 1:30 a.m. after smelling smoke and hearing a loud bang.
Crews arrived to find three-foot flames burning at the back of the house and along the roof.
They quickly put it out and the assistant fire chief says the blaze seems suspicious.
They found a gas can in the backyard and gasoline poured on the back wall of the home.
No one was inside at the time. The building is currently being used as an office.
