WINNIPEG – The Etsy: Made in Canada marketplace has returned to Winnipeg for a one day pop-up event.
The cross-country marketplace is happening in 34 different Canadian cities including Winnipeg.
68 local Etsy vendors took over the Neeginan Centre at 181 Higgins Ave., from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. to sell local handmade wares and vintage goods.
“People can make connections find out who is here, what peopleare asking for, maybe get custom items made for them,” said co-chair of the event Jennifer Cloutier. “It’s a great interactive activity that will translate later on to them being able to buy more things local.”
Visitors were able to pick up one-of-a-kind pieces such as jewelry and fashion, home decor and kids items.
Cloutier expected around 3,000 people to attend the event by the end of Saturday.
The national grassroots initiative is meant to encourage face-to-face interaction between the makers and customers.
