Novelist Jackie Collins passed away in Los Angeles on Saturday at the age of 77.
The English novelist had been diagnosed with breast cancer more than six years ago but kept her illness from the public.
Her family issued a statement after her passing.
“It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the death of our beautiful, dynamic and one of a kind mother, Jackie Collins, who died of breast cancer today,” the statement, released to People Magazine, said.
“She lived a wonderfully full life and was adored by her family, friends and the millions of readers who she has been entertaining for over 4 decades. She was a true inspiration, a trail blazer for women in fiction and a creative force. She will live on through her characters but we already miss her beyond words.”
Collins, the sister of actress Joan Collins, sold more than 500 million copies of her books. All 32 of her novels appeared on The New York Times bestsellers list, several of which were adapted for the screen, including the miniseries Hollywood Wives and Lucky Chances.
