CALGARY – Calgary police said Friday a five-year-old boy who died after suffering injuries not consistent with an accidental death was living with non-biological family members and was in good health when he moved in with them.

Police said in August Eneas Emilio Perdomo was brought to the Alberta Children’s Hospital on July 10, suffering from injuries family attributed to numerous accidents. Police said hospital staff saw swelling and bleeding all over his body, which was not consistent with a five-year-old’s activities, and considered the death suspicious.

Eneas died of his injuries on July 17.

Staff Sgt. Doug Andrus said in a past news conference five people from the boy’s “immediate family” brought him to the hospital. He said there were two individuals who identified themselves as his parents, as well as two teenagers and one young adult living in the home. Andrus said the family members have not been ruled out as suspects.

Police said Friday the boy was in good health when he was brought to live with them in February 2015.

“Investigators are working to develop an accurate timeline in relation to what may have happened to Emilio since his arrival,” said police in a statement.

Police said no suspect has been identified, but investigators will now focus on “family members who had exclusive opportunity to Emilio during the time he sustained the injuries.”
