CALGARY – An autopsy has found a five-year-old Calgary boy’s injuries are not consistent with an accidental death and police are now considering the death suspicious.
Police said Wednesday Eneas Emilio Perdomo was brought to the Alberta Children’s Hospital on July 10, suffering from injuries family attributed to numerous accidents.
WATCH: Staff Sgt. Doug Andrus of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit answers questions about an investigation into a suspicious child fatality.
Staff Sgt. Doug Andrus said five people from the boy’s “immediate family” brought him to the hospital. He said there are two individuals who identified themselves as his parents, as well as two teenagers and one young adult living in the home. Andrus said the family members have not been ruled out as suspects.
“We’re trying to confirm the relationships between Emilio and the individuals in the house,” said Andrus, noting it’s not clear who his biological parents are.
Andrus said the boy came to Canada in February and the investigation involves people living outside the country. He would not specify their location.

Police said hospital staff saw swelling and bleeding all over his body, which was not consistent with a five-year-old’s activities. Andrus said police were called as soon as the boy was admitted to hospital, and investigators are working in conjunction with the child abuse unit.
Perdomo died from his injuries on July 17. Police said an autopsy confirmed he had swelling and bruising all over his body, and “numerous other serious injuries” but did not confirm the cause of death.
The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit has launched an investigation and officers are trying to find and speak to anyone who had close contact with the child.
