TORONTO — Police have charged a 30-year-old suspect, dubbed the “BLT Bandit,” with 27 charges in connection with numerous restaurant robberies across the city.
Toronto police said that between July 8 and Sept. 9, 13 separate restaurants throughout Toronto were robbed.
In each case the suspect wore sunglasses and posed as a customer, but when the employee opened the cash register the suspect pulled out a handgun and demanded cash.
On Thursday, Michael Yang was arrested and police seized a pellet gun in the investigation.
Yang is charged with 13 counts of robbery while armed with a firearm, 13 counts of disguise with intent and one count of possession of property obtained by crime.
He was scheduled to appear in court in Toronto on Friday.
