FareSaver ticket shortage a supplier issue: TransLink

There is a shortage of FareSaver tickets in Metro Vancouver and TransLink says it is a supplier issue.

“We’ve heard from our customers seeking FareSaver booklets that they’re frustrated. We’ve been frustrated by this too,” said TransLink in a statement to Global News.

FareSaver tickets are a book of 10 TransLink tickets that can be used on the bus, SeaBus or SkyTrain and offer savings over single fares.

The transit authority says the company that supplies FareSavers has been unable to provide full shipments.

“We’ve since learned the company was going through bankruptcy proceedings. The company now has new owners and thankfully, the supply issue is being resolved as we speak,” says TranLink.

FareSaver dealers still have stock, but TransLink is out of specific products at certain locations.

Commuters can call Customer Service 604-953-3333 to find out where their specific fare product is available.

TransLink says it has asked its supplier to increase the shipments of FareSavers to alleviate the shortage. The next shipment arrives Monday and FareDealers will receive the new stock by mid-week.

TransLink anticipates that the shortage of FareSavers will be resolved within a week or so.

It maintains the FareSavers shortage has nothing to do with the roll-out of the beleaguered Compass Card.
