KELOWNA — Residents and visitors are now able to drive up to the first lookout on Knox Mountain.
The City of Kelowna has re-opened a portion of Knox Mountain Drive after cooler weather lowered the fire risk.
“Even though the risk of fire has decreased, we still ask that park visitors continue to use caution while in the parks,” says Andrew Hunsberger, a Urban Forest Technician with the city.
The upper portion of the road is still closed to traffic until it has been re-evaluated in the following weeks.
Despite a recent campfire ban being lifted for provincial parks and Crown lands, open burning is still prohibited in Kelowna. The public is reminded that smoking is prohibited in all parks and natural areas as well.
