WINNIPEG – A world traveller has made a stopover in Winnipeg. Bjorn Troch is known as “The Social Traveler”. Troch has been travelling the world for five years and documenting his adventures on social media. That is also the way he meets locals and engages in community events.
“I think the best part of this has been learning a lot, and meeting so many people,” said Troch. “You learn not be afraid to talk to strangers.”
Troch has two rules when travelling; he can’t use a guidebook and he can’t use search engines to connect to people or events, it’s strictly done on social media. Troch has partnered with Travel Manitoba and Tourism Winnipeg to complete a series of challenges around the area. The traveller spent Saturday at Fortwhyte Alive taking selfies with bisons and exploring the Assiniboine Zoo. So far he said the experience in Winnipeg has been a positive one.
“Everyone is really open, and really friendly,” said Troch. “I like this city.”
