Florida grandmother accused of attempting to hire ex-son-in-law to kill daughter’s homeless boyfriend

WATCH: A 50-year-old Florida woman is accused of attempting to hire her former son-in-law to kill a homeless man she said was having an affair with her daughter and abusing her grandchildren. Claire Metz reports.

A Florida man is speaking out after he says his former mother-in-law attempted to recruit him in a murder-for-hire plot.

The informant, identified as Daniel Dionne by the Daytona Beach News-Journal, said Pamela Vanorsdale asked him on Thursday night to kill Dylan Loveless, a homeless man who she said was having an affair with her daughter and allegedly mistreating her grandchildren.

Police say the 50-year-old Florida woman was upset that her grandchildren had come home with lice. She also accused him of choking one of the children and making sexually inappropriate comments to another child while chasing them with dogs.

According to Dionne in an interview with NBC affiliate WESH, Vanorsdale gave him great detail on where he could be found and what he could do in various scenarios to end Loveless’ life. She said she would give him her .25-calibre handgun and two bullets, adding two bullets were sufficient to “pop him in the head and chest.”

“That’s somebody’s son she wanted me to kill. That’s all I was thinking about, you know?” said Dionne.

Police say Vanorsdale asked Dionne to return the gun after he killed Loveless so that she could clean it and make it appear as though it had not been fired.

After Dionne went to police, Vanorsdale was arrested and eventually confessed to asking Dionne to kill Loveless, but claims it was all a joke.

She was released on $25,000 bail, and Dionne says he is now concerned for his own safety.

“My whole thought was if she’s trying to have someone killed, then how many times have I been that close?” he said.
