MONTREAL – Police are investigating after a commercial vehicle was set on fire in the borough of Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.
Around 2 a.m., witnesses told police they heard a loud explosion.
“A pick-up truck was burning in the back street of Gontier Avenue, south of Hochelaga,” said André Leclerc with Montreal police.
The cause of the fire is unknown, but it was declared suspicious and the file has been transferred to the Montreal arson squad.
“It looks like the vehicle was stolen from a commerce that had been broken into earlier on Notre-Dame Street,” said Leclerc.
No suspects have been arrested and the investigation is ongoing.
