Toronto police seeking two male suspects in theft of house deposit

File . Global News/File

Toronto police are asking the public’s assistance in finding two men wanted in connection with a major theft in North York.

Police say that early in the afternoon of August 6th a family went to a currency exchange business (near Yonge and Centre Ave) and withdrew a large sum of money they intended to use to buy a home.

Investigators say the money was placed in a backpack and the family then went to a nearby restaurant (near Yonge and Churchill Ave).

Police say that while the family members were in line ordering food, one of two men who followed them from the currency exchange walked over to the table where the bag with the money had been left, grabbed it and exited the restaurant.

The two suspects were captured on surveillance video. Both are white, one being 50-to-60 years old, the other 35-to-45.
