Etobicoke homeowner in turf war with grass installer

WATCH ABOVE: An Etobicoke woman who paid $14,000 to install artificial turf in her backyard says the installer hasn’t finished the job. The company says it is trying to do its best. Sean O’Shea reports.

TORONTO — Robin Arruda thinks she made the right decision spending $14,000 for artificial turf in her backyard in Etobicoke.

But, almost a year after the installation, she admits she’s in a turf war with the company that installed it.

“I’m disappointed, you spend so much,” said Arruda, who says the company hasn’t entirely finished the job.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Arruda hired Fieldmasters, a company with a 7.9 rating on the review site Homestars. The company is run by Josh Lief.

“Stuff like this doesn’t scare me,” Lief said in a telephone interview Thursday.

“Whatever’s going on here, this interview, it’s not going to scare me into moving any quicker.”

Lief told Global News he has an excellent reputation during 26 years in business. With regard to Arruda’s complaint, he says he’s trying.

“I’m on top of this. I don’t want them to be unhappy,” said Lief.

But Arruda said Lief is refusing to take her phone calls. Lief responded immediately when Global News called.

Lief says he is trying to source artificial turf that will match the texture, colour and grade of the turf installed in 2014. He says it’s been difficult.

“This is not fun, it costs me money,” he said. “I don’t like being constantly bugged.”

But Arruda said the solution is simple.

“I just want it fixed and I’ll leave him alone,” she said.
