Federal Election 2015: Sarnia-Lambton riding results

Summary: A mid-sized, mostly middle-class riding, voters in Sarnia-Lambton will elect a new MP for the first time since 2006.

Boundaries: This urban-rural riding includes the city of Sarnia, along with a large portion of Lambton County, stretching as far south as Walpole Island and as far east to include the towns of Wyoming and Petrolia.

Last Election: Conservative MP Pat Davidson, who is not running for re-election, defeated NDP candidate Brian White by 22.7 per cent to win her third term.

History: The Sarnia-based riding has alternated between the Conservative/PC Party and the Liberals over the years. Prior to Davidson, Liberal Roger Gallaway held Sarnia-Lambton from 1993 to 2006.

Demographics: English is the mother tongue of 90 per cent of people in this riding, 11th highest in Ontario.

Conservatives: Marilyn Gladu, engineering consultant and former riding association president

NDP: Jason McMichael, national vice-president of the Customs and Immigration Union

Liberals: Dave McPhail, retired principal and head of the Save the Sarnia Jail committee

Greens: Peter Smith, scientist and community activist
