Summary: Previously known as Halton, high-profile Conservative cabinet minister Lisa Raitt seeks re-election in Milton, a suburban-rural riding.

Boundaries: The riding of Milton contains all of Milton, along with small pockets of rural, eastern Burlington. The northern part of Oakville was removed from Milton when the new seat of Oakville North-Burlington was created through redistribution.

Last Election: Raitt defeated Liberal candidate Connie Laurin-Bowie by 28.6 per cent.

History: When known as Halton, the riding alternated between the Liberals and PC/Conservative party through the decades, with no party holding it for more than four elections in a row. World champion figure skater Otto Jelinek held this riding for the Tories from 1979 to 1993.

Demographics: A rapidly growing riding for young families, the median age is 34.4, third lowest in Ontario. The median income is $41,801, seventh highest in the province.

NDP: Alex Anabusi, health care worker at the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children
