Kelowna throws big block party, expect road closures

KELOWNA – It’s been going on for a quarter of a century and on Saturday, the city will host another big party in its downtown.  The 26th annual Kelowna Block Party will offer all kinds of activities for everyone in the family.  From live entertainment and kids activities to food vendors and shopping, the day is designed to celebrate and bring people to the downtown core.

The event starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. Most of the activities take place along Bernard Avenue and in Kerry Park.

The annual event will force the closure of the following streets:

  • Bernard Avenue (Richter Street to Abbott Street)
  • Abbott Street (Bernard Avenue to Lawrence Avenue)
  • Mill Street (Bernard Avenue to alley north of Bernard Avenue)
  • Ellis Street (Alley north of Bernard Avenue to alley south of Bernard Avenue)
  • Pandosy Street (Lawrence Avenue to alley north of Bernard Avenue)
  • St. Paul Street (Bernard Avenue to alley north of Bernard Avenue)
  • Bertram Street (Safeway entrance to alley north of Bernard Avenue)

Vehicles parked on these streets during the closure will be courtesy towed to the City Hall parking lot or the Lawrence Avenue and Richter street lot.

Parking is available at both the Chapman Parkade  on Lawrence Avenue and the Library Parkade on Ellis Street.
