TORONTO — Ontario Provincial Police say this year’s civic holiday long weekend was one of the deadliest on provincial roads and waterways in recent history.
Officers worked “around the clock” investigating numerous fatalities related to both transportation and recreation activities over the weekend.
As of midnight on Monday, nine people had been killed on roads across the province, while six drowned and one person died in a boating accident on Ontario waters.

In one of the fatal vehicle collisions, all three passengers in their 20s were killed.
OPP reported that at least two of the motorcyclist fatalities were “driving properly” at the time of the collisions.
