TORONTO — Rapper Meek Mill, who slammed Canadian superstar Drake on Twitter last week, was loudly boo’ed Tuesday night when he showed up on stage at Toronto’s Molson Canadian Amphitheatre nearly 90 minutes late.
The 28-year-old, who is part of girlfriend Nicki Minaj’s Pinkprint Tour, was scheduled to perform at 8:00 p.m., according to concert promoter Live Nation Ontario.
Fans were buzzing when Mill was a no-show at his scheduled time.
Sources told Global News the rapper, whose real name is Robert Williams, did not arrive at the venue until after 10 p.m. because he was detained at the border.
When Minaj finally introduced Mill — her boyfriend — the crowd boo’ed.
Concert-goers said during his four-song performance, Meek raised his middle fingers to the crowd as the words “F*** You” appeared on a screen behind him. (Fans said this has been part of his act at other tour stops.)
Mill’s reported Customs issues likely stemmed from his 2008 conviction for drug and gun possession.
He also served five months behind bars last year after a judge revoked his probation.
Last week, Mill found himself in a Twitter feud with Toronto councillor Norm Kelly after dissing Drake.
Kelly was responding to Mill’s claims on Twitter that Drake doesn’t write his own material.
Drake responded by sharing the track “Back to Back,” in which he takes aim at Mill.
“This for ya’ll that think that I don’t write enough / They just mad ’cause I got the Midas touch.
“You love her then you gotta get a world tour / Is that a world tour or your girl’s tour? / I know that you gotta be a thug for her / This ain’t what she meant when she told you to open up more.”
Drake’s OVO Fest takes over the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre on Aug. 2 and 3.
The Pinkprint Tour is in Montreal on Wednesday night and will return to Canada next month for stops in Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton.
