TORONTO — Stand-up comic and former sitcom star Jimmie Walker has spoken out about Bill Cosby.

Walker, who played J.J. Evans on Good Times in the ’70s, told TMZ this week he assumed everyone knew that Cosby had affairs with women.

But Walker, 68, only had kind words to say about the embattled comedian.

“I love Bill Cosby,” he said. “The thing that upsets me the most is that we’re never going to see his work again because he’s gone forever and ever and it’s unfortunate.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“He’s a great comedian. He’s done a great job.”

Cosby, who has never been charged with a crime, is facing sexual assault accusations from dozens of women.

Appearing Wednesday on Good Morning America, Cosby lawyer Monique Pressley said the media is making a big deal about what her client said in a deposition 10 years ago.

“There are a thousand-plus pages that are available of Mr. Cosby in his own words, and what we’re seeing so far are headlines that are grabbing one excerpt or two and then misinterpreting them,” she said.

Pressley said Quaaludes were frequently used by celebrities in the ’70s.

She did not brand the dozens of women accusing Cosby of sexual assault as liars but added: “Mr. Cosby has denied the accusations that have been lodged thus far.

“The sheer volume or number of people who are saying a particular thing does not make it true.”
