Saskpower hoping South Regina power woes are thing of the past

REGINA – There is light at the end of the tunnel for some Regina residents who have found themselves plunged into darkness as the result of numerous power outages over the past few weeks.

SaskPower has announced that the Albert Park substation will soon be back in service.

The substation has been offline due to upgrade work since February 23rd. The $10 million upgrade should help reduce the scale of power outages in South Regina.

The substation is currently partially energized and SaskPower will have crews working to have the facility operating at full capacity within two weeks.

SaskPower is also upgrading substations and underground cable for the Fleet Street substation, the Transcona substation in the Rosemont area and is building a new underground duct bank for Regina’s downtown.

In 2015 Saskpower will be spending a total of $33 million on planned maintenance and upgraded in the Regina area.
