SASKATOON – A man who led Saskatoon police on a short chase Thursday morning will appear in court this afternoon. Officers were first called out to a disturbance around 3:20 a.m. in the area of Idylwyld Drive and Stanley Place.

The air support unit spotted a vehicle speeding away and informed responding patrol units which way it was heading.

One patrol unit spotted the vehicle and made an attempt to stop it, but the driver refused. The patrol officer ended the chase shortly after it started and the air support unit continued to track the vehicle.

The driver eventually stopped in the area of Noble Crescent and Rupert Drive where the occupants fled on foot.

They were tracked down by a canine unit and taken into custody.

A 38-year-old man is charged with evading police.
