Suspicious packages force another Canada Post evacuation

WINNIPEG — Workers are being allowed back into a Canada Post facility after a three hour evacuation Wednesday morning.

Winnipeg Police, the bomb unit and the fire department were investigating two suspicious packages at the building at 1131 Nairn Avenue.

Emergency crews first arrived around 8:30 a.m.

The bomb unit entered the building at around 10:30 a.m.. Workers were evacuated until the area was deemed safe at 11:30 a.m.

A Canadian Union of Postal Workers member tells Global News some of the letter carriers that delivered bombs last week have been put on stress leave.

He also said a handful of Canada Post employees have exercised their option not to go to work until bomb threats cool down.

Workers said they were shown an image of what to be on the look out for in the wake of at least three bombs being sent though Canada Post.
