The Vancouver Canucks acquired forward Brandon Prust from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for forward Zack Kassian and a fifth-round draft pick in 2016.

Canucks general manager Jim Benning made the announcement today; which comes on the heels of the Kevin Bieksa trade to the Anaheim Ducks.

The GM also announced they are bringing back defenceman Yannick Weber to the Canucks on a one-year deal worth $1.5 million USD.

The 31-year-old Prust had 18 points and 134 penalty minutes in 82 games with the Montreal Canadiens in 2014 and is ranked first on the team and sixth in the NHL for penalty minutes. The left winger also notched four points and 35 penalty minutes for Montreal during the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Since his NHL debut in 2006/2007, Prust has recorded 108 points and 977 penalty minutes in 451 NHL regular season games.
