CALGARY – A local deli has issued a recall of sausages due to possible Listeria contamination.
The affected product, a Polish dried sausage, was sold at Old Fashioned Meat & Deli Ltd. between June 10th and 24th.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning consumers not to eat the sausage.
They say it was sold without a label. As such, Consumers who are unsure if they have purchased the affected product are advised to contact the retailer.
The deli is located in the 500 block of Cleveland Crescent S.E., or you can call them by dialing 403-287-1511.
Listeria symptoms and signs
Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick.
Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.
Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk.
Although infected pregnant women may experience only mild, flu-like symptoms, the infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn or even stillbirth.
In severe cases of illness, people may die.
