TORONTO — Emergency crews have pulled a man from an underground crevice where he was stuck between rocks for more than 12 hours.

The man, age unknown, had been trapped since Saturday evening in the Singhampton area, about 120 kilometres north of Toronto, near Collingwood. The man was said to have been injured but responsive.

Clareview Fire Department received the call around 8:30 p.m. Saturday for a “high-angle rescue”.

The man was wedged between rocks in an underground cavern near a walking trail. It’s unclear if the man fell into the crevice or if he was attempting to climb in the area when he became stuck.

Toronto’s Heavy Urban Search & Rescue (HUSAR) was deployed to the area Sunday morning to assist.
