HALIFAX – Police have laid charges against two people in relation to the stabbing death of a 59-year-old man in Halifax early Thursday morning.

Michelle Florence Rhyno, 53, is facing charges of manslaughter and robbery. She appeared in Dartmouth Provincial Court Friday morning and her matter was set over until July 29.

“We don’t have and the Crown doesn’t have any information about the detail behind the allegation,” Michelle’s lawyer Don Murray said.

She will remain in custody until then. A court administrator tells Global News she has 29 previous convictions.

Michael Raymond Rhyno, 22, is facing charges of second degree murder, as well as robbery and possession of a dangerous weapon. He appeared in court Friday afternoon.

There was no expression on his face as the judge read out his charges.

Michael currently doesn’t have a lawyer, and no bail has been set. If he wants to apply for bail, he’ll need to apply to the Nova Scotia Supreme Court because of the second degree murder charge.

Police said Michael was also wanted under various other warrants stemming from other incidents earlier this year, including fraud, drug possession and assault.

Murray said he has no details about the fight police said precipitated the stabbing.

“I don’t even know if there was a fight so we’ll wait and see what the information is that the police eventually provide to the Crown,” Murray said.

The victim, Bradley Gerald Knoll, was known to both the suspects, according to police.
