One dead after rollover near Melville, Sask.

MELVILLE, Sask. – One person is dead after a rollover on a Saskatchewan highway. It happened Thursday morning on Highway 47 approximately 10 kilometres south of Melville.

Mounties say the northbound vehicle appeared to have lost control and enter a slough.

First responders recovered the body of the lone occupant, an 83-year-old British Columbia man. His name has not been released.

Police continue to investigate with the assistance of the coroner’s office.

Then just after 1 p.m., first responders were called to another crash, this on Highway 10 approximately 20 kilometres south of Melville.

Police say the driver of a southbound GMC Tahoe towing a 22-foot camper-trailer lost control, with the camper-trailer jack-knifing and hitting a northbound vehicle.

A northbound cyclist travelling on the shoulder was also hit and pushed into the ditch. The Ontario man was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The driver of the Tahoe and a passenger were taken to hospital in Melville for treatment of their injuries. There is no word on their current condition.

The driver of the northbound vehicle was not injured.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
