KELOWNA – With hot days and cool nights, this is a time of year when snakes are more likely to be visible as they seek out daylight heat.
Although people may be more likely to spot snakes at this time of year, they may not know how to react when they do.
“The first thing is don’t approach it, leave the snake alone,” says Wise.
He says it is also important to know what you are dealing with, venomous rattlesnakes are often confused with non-venomous great basin gopher snakes.
Often the best action is no action at all.
“If it is not in any area where it is going to cause a problem, leave them alone,” he says.
